Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky Anime Premieres This July
The GA FES 2026 livestream officially confirmed that Nanigashi Shima and raemz’s light novel Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky (Tōmei na Yoru ni Kakeru Kimi to, Me ni Mienai Koi wo Shita) is getting a television anime adaptation set to premiere in July.
The announcement arrived alongside a teaser promotional video, the first key visual, and full main cast details. The anime stars Miyu Irino as Kakeru Sorano, a socially withdrawn college freshman who keeps his distance from others, and Saori Hayami as Koharu Fuyutsuki, a blind girl whose optimism and warmth stand in sharp contrast to his closed-off nature. Konomi Kohara joins the cast as Yūko Hayase, who befriends Koharu soon after their university entrance ceremony, while Yōhei Azakami voices Kakeru’s dormmate Ushio Narumi.

The series is directed by Joe Yoshizaki at studio MAKARIA, with Yūko Kakihara overseeing the series scripts. Character designs are handled by Yoshihiro Sawada and Yūzuki Ishii, while veteran creator Osamu Masuyama serves as art supervisor. Additional staff includes art director Asaki Nakamura, color key artist Mayumi Hiraide, cinematography directors Daigo Matsumoto and Yoshishito Kuwa, and sound director Satoshi Motoyama.
According to Shochiku’s story description, the anime follows Kakeru, who is reluctantly dragged to a welcome party by his dormmate, where he meets Koharu. Her openness and dreams slowly begin to break through his emotional isolation. After he picks up her white cane one day after class, the distance between them starts to fade, leading to a fragile romance about two people searching for light—one who cannot see, and one who has chosen not to.
The original novel was released in August 2023 with illustrations by raemz and quickly gained critical acclaim. It ranked third overall in Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! 2024 and won the Grand Prize at the 15th GA Bunko Awards. A sequel novel, Love Unseen Beneath a Colorful Night Sky, followed in August 2024.
The series has since expanded across multiple media, including a live-action drama that premiered in December 2024, and a manga adaptation by hat., which began serialization on Square Enix’s Manga UP! platform in August 2024. Square Enix published the manga’s first collected volume in July 2025, while Yen Press released the English edition of the novel in January 2025.
