The story unfolds in Tsukuyomi, a virtual world where hopes, creativity, and second lives quietly overlap. Iroha Sakayori, a 17-year-old high school student in Tokyo, leads a relentlessly busy life, juggling school and part-time work. Her moments of peace come from Tsukuyomi, where she supports her favorite streamer, Yachiyo, the administrator of the virtual space.

One night, on her way home, Iroha encounters something impossible—a telephone pole glowing with shimmering colors. From it emerges a tiny baby, who quickly grows into a girl her own age.
Her name is Kaguya.

Charming, impulsive, and unmistakably otherworldly, Kaguya asks Iroha for help becoming a streamer in Tsukuyomi. With Iroha acting as producer and songwriter, and Kaguya stepping into the spotlight as singer and performer, the two grow closer—unaware that darker forces are quietly closing in, determined to return Kaguya to the moon.

The film stars Yūko Natsuyoshi as Kaguya, Anna Nagase as Iroha, and Saori Hayami as Yachiyo. Hayami also performs the theme song “Ex-Otogibanashi (Ex-Fairy Tale),” composed by Ryo (supercell). Additional music contributions come from Vocaloid creators including kz (livetune), HoneyWorks, 40mP, Aqu3ra, and yuigot, giving the film a rich and emotionally layered soundtrack.

Directed by Yamashita in his feature-length debut, the project is a collaboration between Studio Chromato and Studio Colorido, with character designs by Hechima (Tsukuyomi world) and Akihiro Nagae (real-world designs).

The story will continue beyond the screen as well, with a manga adaptation by Tarō Yoneda and a novel written by Naruto Kiriyama, both expanding this gentle yet bittersweet universe.

At its heart, this is Princess Kaguya like you’ve never seen her before—a tender, modern fairy tale about connection, creativity, and the quiet ache of letting go 🌙✨
