ZERO RISE Steps Into Anime and Stage Play
Bushiroad has shared exciting news for fans during the Cardfight!! Vanguard 15th Anniversary event. The company revealed that its new cross-media project ZERO RISE will expand into both a television anime and a live stage play. Specifically, the same cast members will perform on stage and voice their characters in the anime. Consequently, fans can expect a unique and consistent performance across both mediums.
Stage Play and Character Teams
The stage play is scheduled to run from May 2 to May 17 at the Hikōsen Theater in Tokyo. Initially, the project released animation previews and character videos featuring teams like UNFIXX and KINGS+HOOT. Furthermore, suit actors will appear in mystery roles, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the production. The script for this ambitious adaptation is handled by Ichidai Matsuda.
Underground Basketball and Struggle
ZERO RISE centers on young people who have been pushed out of the world of basketball. Set in a society marked by inequality, the story follows these youths as they search for a second chance in an underground league. Therefore, the narrative focuses on themes of struggle, hope, and finding light in unexpected places. Currently, the original concept is credited to Takaaki Kidani and Yoshiki Watabe.

The original concept is credited to Bushiroad president Takaaki Kidani and Yoshiki Watabe, with character designs handled by From Tokyo. The stage play will be directed by Nobuhiro Mōri, while Ichidai Matsuda (ILCA) is in charge of the script.

Production and Creative Vision
Character designs for the series are handled by the studio From Tokyo. In addition, the project is being developed as a major cross-media franchise under Bushiroad’s supervision. Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting more details on the television premiere date following the stage play’s run. This expansion marks a significant step for the ZERO RISE universe in 2026.
