CAPCOM Unveils Live-Action Short “Evil Has Always Had A Name” for Resident Evil Requiem
Capcom released a new live-action promotional short titled “Evil Has Always Had A Name,” offering a first look at the origins of the zombie outbreak in the upcoming survival horror title Resident Evil Requiem.
The game is scheduled to launch on February 27, 2026 for next-generation platforms and PC. Described as the ninth mainline entry in the long-running Resident Evil franchise, Requiem promises a darker tone, a fresh narrative direction, and more immersive gameplay built on the team’s evolving technology and experience.
The story introduces new protagonist Grace Ashcroft, while series fan-favorite Leon Kennedy will serve as a second playable character. Capcom previously noted the title would represent a tonal shift for the franchise when it was first announced.
Alongside Requiem’s release, updated versions of earlier entries including Resident Evil 7: biohazard and Resident Evil Village will arrive on new hardware the same day, with a bundled collection featuring all three titles.
Capcom positions Resident Evil Requiem as the start of a new era for survival horror, combining rich character storytelling with tense, cinematic gameplay designed to push the series forward.
