Concert promoter Mammoth Live announced that renowned composer Yōko Kanno will perform two concerts in New York City on April 10 and 11. The shows will take place at Kings Theatre and The Town Hall, with tickets going on sale Friday.
The Kings Theatre performance will feature Kanno alongside her collaborative band SEATBELTS, marking the first time the group performs in North America. The band is best known for performing the soundtrack of the anime Cowboy Bebop. Kanno’s second concert at The Town Hall will be a solo piano program titled “Piano Me.”

Kanno is widely recognized for her influential anime soundtracks, including multiple entries in the Macross Frontier branch of the Macross franchise. Her music spans jazz, rock, electronic, and classical styles, with standout work on projects such as Macross Plus and collaborations with director Shōji Kawamori across several titles.
She has also frequently collaborated with director Shinichirō Watanabe, contributing music to series including Terror in Resonance, Space Dandy, and Kids on the Slope.
Another notable partnership is with singer Maaya Sakamoto. Kanno composed Sakamoto’s debut single Yakusoku wa Iranai, which served as the opening theme for The Vision of Escaflowne. The two continued working together on many songs, including Platinum, Hemisphere, Gravity, and Triangler.
