The Person I Loved Anime Adaptation Officially Announced
TO Books has officially confirmed a major update for dark fantasy fans. Specifically, Mizuki Nagano’s light novel series, The Person I Loved Asked Me to Die in My Sister’s Stead, is receiving an The Person I Loved Anime adaptation. Although the news broke on Wednesday, details regarding the studio or release date remain unknown.
A Tale of Sacrifice and Betrayal
The story centers on Lady Wisteria and her devotion to Lord Bright. Initially, Wisteria is asked to make a devastating sacrifice. Lord Bright requests that she die in the Predawn Realm instead of her sister, Rosalie. Consequently, Wisteria enters this deadly realm armed with a holy sword. Twenty years later, her exile is shattered by a man who looks exactly like her former love.

Origins and Growing Popularity
Nagano first launched the series in November 2020. Furthermore, TO Books began publishing the print edition with illustrations by Saori Toyota. In addition, a manga adaptation by Maki Yamori has been running since June 2022. The franchise has gained massive popularity, appearing in several editions of the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! guidebook. Therefore, expectations for the anime version are very high.
