Revue Starlight Returns With Brand-New Animated Sequel
Exciting news for fans of the franchise as a completely new animated sequel in the Starlight Project is now officially in production. Announced during the Bushiroad New Year Announcements 2026 event, the project is being handled by the renowned studio Kinema Citrus. Specifically, the announcement was teased with the evocative tagline: “Someday, ___ will reach someone.” Consequently, the Stage Girls are officially preparing for their next grand performance.
Anniversary Exhibition and Franchise History
Alongside the sequel reveal, Bushiroad confirmed a special exhibition for early summer to celebrate the franchise’s ninth anniversary. Initially, the Revue Starlight project debuted in April 2017 as a unique blend of stage performances and animation. Furthermore, the television anime first followed in July 2018, quickly building a dedicated global fanbase through its 12-episode run.
Expanding the Stage
Since its debut, the series has inspired a short-form comedy anime, a compilation film, and a major sequel movie that premiered in June 2021. In addition, the franchise has successfully branched out into manga and a global smartphone game. Therefore, with a new animation now underway, Revue Starlight is once again stepping into the spotlight to reach new audiences. Currently, fans are eagerly awaiting more specific plot details for this upcoming chapter.
