The Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha franchise celebrates its 20th anniversary with a big update. Recently, the official website shared a new visual, a promo video, and cast details. Consequently, fans are excited because this new project, titled Nanoha EXCEEDS Anime, will premiere in July.

New Characters and Voice Cast

The anniversary project introduces several new faces to the story. For instance, Azusa Tachibana voices Shiina Kuze, a high school student on a remote island. In addition, her sister Setsuna is voiced by Rina Hidaka. The plot also features a mysterious woman named Towa Yorumi, voiced by Asaki Yuikawa.

However, longtime fans will still see the return of the original stars. Yukari Tamura returns as Nanoha Takamachi, and Nana Mizuki voices Fate T. Harlaown. Furthermore, Nana Mizuki performs the new theme song titled “Never Surrender.”

Rina Hidaka plays the role of Setsuna Kuze. She is Shiina’s younger sister and a very bright elementary school student. In addition, she handles the household chores and tends their garden. Consequently, Setsuna plays a vital role in their daily life on the island.

Asaki Yuikawa voices the character Towa Yorumi. She is a mysterious young woman who lives in the shadows of society. Furthermore, people fear her as a ‘Majin’ or demon. However, her true motives remain a mystery to everyone.

The following four characters are mysterious young women who support Towa from the shadows.

• Chiharu voices Shiori Aizawa. She is one of Towa’s key supporters. Moreover, her presence suggests a much larger network. Specifically, this group operates in the shadows behind the scenes.

Aika Kobayashi voices Yuuna Kitamori. She is another shadowy supporter of Towa. In addition, her calm personality hides her true involvement. Therefore, she remains a powerful force working behind the scenes.

Ayasa Itō voices Aoi Niina. She is one of Towa’s mysterious supporters. Furthermore, she is known for her very quiet presence. Because of this, an air of secrecy surrounds her role in the story.

Hina Aoki voices Yuzu Kodera. She is the final member of Towa’s group of supporters. Specifically, she completes the circle of mysterious young women. In addition, these women operate behind the scenes to support Towa’s plans.

A Mature Story for the 20th Anniversary

The story takes place thirty years after a mysterious alien invasion. Because of this, humanity now lives in a fragile world. The United Nations Investigation Agency EXCEEDS fights these threats in the shadows. Specifically, the plot focuses on Shiina Kuze and her hidden ties to a global conflict. This mature tone is similar to the emotional drama in [Sound Euphonium Final Movie].

Production Team and Manga News

Regarding the production, franchise creator Masaki Tsuzuki writes the script. Moreover, Takayuki Hamana directs the anime at Seven Arcs. This studio also worked on Reflection and Detonation. While some fans enjoy mecha action like [Dolls Nest Manga Launch], Nanoha offers a unique mix of magic and battle.

Finally, the anniversary project includes a manga version. It launched in April 2025 on the Suiyōbi no Sirius platform. Since its debut in 2004, Nanoha has grown into a massive franchise. Therefore, this new chapter marks a bold step into its third decade.
