Bandai Namco Filmworks has unveiled the main visual and first full promotional video for the upcoming magical girl anime Mahō no Shimai Lulutto Lilly, a new television project produced in collaboration with Studio Pierrot. The trailer previews the opening theme song “Bubee,” performed by K-pop girl group ILLIT.

The anime is scheduled to premiere in April, with two advance screening events set for March 15 at Tokyo’s Marunouchi Piccadilly theater.

The story follows sisters Fū and Rui Nonoyama, whose once-close relationship has grown distant. After a mysterious encounter with a spaceship, both girls gain magical powers and transform into the adult versions of themselves they dream of becoming. Their powers come with strict conditions: they can only use magic for one year, and they must keep it secret. Unaware that the other shares the same fate, the sisters begin working separately as idols.

The main cast includes May Tachibana as Fū Nonoyama/Lilly Konpeto and Nao Ojika as Rui Nonoyama/Lulu Mashū, alongside Hiroki Nanami, Ai Kayano, Fūka Izumi, Fū Hirohara, Hikaru Yaotome, Kōhei Amasaki, Tatsumaru Tachibana, and Tomokazu Sugita. Veteran voice actors Takako Ohta and Yū Mizushima — known for their roles in Magical Angel Creamy Mami — will appear as guest cast members.

Shintarō Dōge directs the anime, with Yūko Kakihara overseeing series composition. Character designs are handled by Namiko Tori, Hirono Nishiki, and Asami Sodeyama.

Originally announced in June 2024, the series continues Studio Pierrot’s long tradition of magical girl anime, bringing a modern idol twist to the genre.
