KPop Demon Hunters Wins Big at the Golden Globes

The animated hit KPop Demon Hunters, directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, had a huge night at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, taking home the prize for Best Motion Picture – Animated. As if that wasn’t enough, the film’s standout track “Golden” also won Best Original Song – Motion Picture, making it a double victory.

The category featured strong competition, including Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle – Akaza Sairai, the first entry in the highly anticipated Infinity Castle film trilogy, which was also nominated.

Released by Sony Pictures Animation, KPop Demon Hunters premiered on Netflix in June 2025 and quickly turned into a global phenomenon. It made history as the first Netflix film to top the U.S. weekend box office, thanks to its Sing-Along Event screenings, which earned $19.2 million across 1,700 theaters.

That same week, the film shattered streaming records, becoming Netflix’s most-watched movie worldwide with 236 million views, surpassing Red Notice. Its impact extended to music charts as well, with four songs from the soundtrack simultaneously landing in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Top 10, an achievement never before seen for a film soundtrack.

The momentum didn’t stop there. The film stayed in Netflix’s Top 10 English-language movies for 15 consecutive weeks and later became the first title on the platform to surpass 300 million total views, according to Netflix’s official Tudum site.

With awards recognition, record-breaking numbers, and massive cultural impact, KPop Demon Hunters has firmly secured its place as one of the most successful animated films of recent years.
