Bungo Stray Dogs Manga to End First Part on March 4

The March issue of Kadokawa’s Young Ace magazine revealed that the Bungo Stray Dogs manga will conclude its first part in the next chapter on March 4. The series, created by Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa, has been running for over a decade.

This announcement marks a major turning point for the long-running title. However, the magazine did not confirm whether the story will immediately continue with a second part.

About the Bungo Stray Dogs Manga

The Bungo Stray Dogs manga follows Atsushi Nakajima, a young man who is expelled from his orphanage. While wandering in despair, he rescues Osamu Dazai from a suicide attempt. Soon after, Atsushi discovers that Dazai belongs to a detective agency whose members possess supernatural powers inspired by famous literary figures.

Asagiri and Harukawa launched the manga in Young Ace in December 2012. Since then, the series has gained global popularity. Kadokawa released the 27th compiled volume in September 2025. Meanwhile, Yen Press published the 26th English volume on January 20.

Anime Adaptations and Film

The success of the Bungo Stray Dogs manga led to several anime adaptations. The first television season aired from April to June 2016. Shortly afterward, a second season aired from October to December 2016.

The third season premiered in April 2019. Later, the fourth season debuted in January 2023, followed by the fifth season in July 2023, which concluded in September. Crunchyroll streamed all seasons as they aired.

In addition, the anime film Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple opened in Japan in March 2018. Crunchyroll began streaming the film in September 2018.

Spinoff Series and Future

The franchise also includes the comedy spinoff Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! by Kanaineko. The manga launched in December 2015 on Young Ace Up! and currently has 14 volumes. Its anime adaptation premiered in January 2021, and a second season is scheduled to debut this year.

With the first part ending on March 4, fans now wonder what comes next for the Bungo Stray Dogs manga. Therefore, anticipation is high for the series’ future direction.
