Cardfight!! Vanguard Marks 15th Anniversary With New Anime Video
Bushiroad has released a brand-new anime video to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Cardfight!! Vanguard franchise, giving longtime fans a special look back at the series’ legacy.
The commemorative video features the theme song “XV”, performed by Roselia, adding a powerful musical touch to the celebration. Animation for the project was handled by MAPPA, working alongside other studios, with Hiroko Komatsu in charge of storyboards and technical direction. Komatsu is known for her work on major titles such as Attack on Titan The Final Season and Banana Fish.
Originally launched in 2011, Cardfight!! Vanguard was created based on a concept by Akira Itō, developed in collaboration with Satoshi Nakamura—a former technical advisor on Duel Masters—and *Bushiroad president Takaaki Kidani. The franchise quickly grew into a major multimedia brand spanning anime, trading card games, films, and live events.
The very first Cardfight!! Vanguard TV anime premiered in January 2011, kicking off a long-running series of adaptations and story arcs. Most recently, the anime Cardfight!! Vanguard Divinez Genma Seisen-hen (Phantom Star Battle Arc) began airing on January 10, with an early screening held during Bushiroad’s New Year announcement event.
With a new anniversary video, ongoing anime projects, and a passionate global fanbase, Cardfight!! Vanguard continues to stand strong 15 years after its debut—still evolving while honoring its roots.
