Unlike the first two films, which followed different members as they traveled to locations such as Okinawa, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, the final chapter brings the story back to Tokyo, setting the stage for an emotional and symbolic conclusion.
The first film in the trilogy opened in September 2024, while the second installment arrived in Japanese theaters in November 2025. The trilogy takes place after the two TV seasons and the Next Sky theatrical OVA, with the main cast and staff returning to see the story through to the end.
The overarching story centers on the club’s participation in the School Idol GPX, a unique competition where idols compete individually rather than by school, sharing their performances through a dedicated app. Each film highlights different members facing new places, new rivals, and personal challenges—especially the emotional weight of competing against close friends.
The Nijigasaki project first began in 2017 as part of the Love Live! School Idol Festival game’s Perfect Dream Project, and has since grown into one of the franchise’s most beloved branches, known for its focus on individuality and personal growth.
With the final movie now officially on the horizon, fans can start counting down to one last performance from the Nijigasaki girls—right where it all comes together.
