Revue Starlight Returns With Brand-New Animated Sequel
Exciting news for Revue Starlight fans! During the Cardfight!! Vanguard 15th Anniversary: Bushiroad New Year Announcements 2026 event, it was revealed that a completely new animated sequel in the Starlight Project franchise is now in production. The upcoming animation is being produced by Kinema Citrus, and was teased with the evocative tagline, “Someday, ___ will reach someone.”
Alongside the sequel announcement, Bushiroad also confirmed that a special exhibition will be held in early summer to celebrate the franchise’s ninth anniversary, giving fans a chance to look back on Revue Starlight’s journey so far.
The Revue Starlight franchise first debuted in April 2017 as a mixed-media project combining stage performances and animation. Its first production, Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight The LIVE, launched as a “2.5D musical and live concert” in Tokyo later that year. The television anime followed in July 2018 with a 12-episode run, quickly gaining a dedicated fanbase.

Since then, the series has expanded steadily. It inspired a short-form comedy mini anime in 2019, a compilation film released in 2020, and a full sequel movie that premiered in Japan in June 2021, continuing the story on a larger scale. The franchise has also branched out into manga adaptations and a globally released smartphone game.
With a new animated sequel now officially underway and an anniversary exhibition on the horizon, Revue Starlight is once again stepping into the spotlight—ready to reach both longtime fans and new audiences alike.
