Gintama: Yoshiwara in Flames Compilation Film Drops New Battle PV
The upcoming compilation film Shin-Gekijōban Gintama: Yoshiwara Daienjō has released a new promotional video highlighting an intense fight sequence featuring Kagura and Shinpachi Shimura against Abuto.
The film premieres in Japanese theaters on February 13 and will also receive a novel adaptation launching the same day. Covering anime episodes 139–146, the movie revisits the iconic Yoshiwara arc with newly animated scenes and additional character appearances that were not part of the original broadcast. Voice actor Kappei Yamaguchi joins the project as Enkaku, an anime-original character serving as a close aide to Hōsen.

Direction is handled by Naoya Ando at BN Pictures, working from a script by Taku Kishimoto, while franchise veteran Yōichi Fujita supervises the project. Character design and chief animation duties are led by Shinji Takeuchi. Rock band SUPER BEAVER performs the theme song “Sanzen.”
The film is part of the broader anniversary celebrations for the Gintama franchise, originally created by Hideaki Sorachi. The series has surpassed 55 million copies in circulation and spawned multiple anime seasons, films, OVAs, and live-action adaptations since its debut in 2003. Recent theatrical compilations under the “Gintama on Theater 2D” banner continue to revisit fan-favorite arcs ahead of the TV anime’s 20th anniversary in 2026.
