Season 5 is technically the second cour of Season 4, which was previously announced as a split-cour season. The fourth season aired from July to September, ending with its 12th episode, and covered the beginning of the Hawaiians arc — an arc that will continue directly into the upcoming season.
Production duties remain in familiar hands. TMS Entertainment continues as the animation studio, while Kazuomi Koga, who directed the first two seasons, returned as director starting with Season 4 and will also oversee Season 5.

Story Recap
The story follows Kazuya Kinoshita, a hopeless college student who turns to a rental girlfriend service after a rough breakup — only to find himself entangled in emotional chaos with the stunning and complicated Chizuru Mizuhara. What starts as a fake relationship slowly turns into something far messier… and maybe real.
Reiji Miyajima’s manga has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Magazine since 2017 and is published in English by Kodansha USA. The franchise also inspired a live-action TV drama in 2022.
With emotions running high and the Hawaiians arc reaching deeper territory, Season 5 is shaping up to be one of the most dramatic (and painfully awkward) chapters yet 💔🌴
