Frieren Season 2 Drops Main Trailer, Reveals Opening Theme by Mrs. Green Apple
TOHO animation has released the main promotional video for the second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Sōsō no Frieren). The newly streamed video reveals and previews the opening theme song “lulu”, performed by Mrs. Green Apple.
The promotional video, which includes optional English subtitles, offers a fresh look at the upcoming season’s atmosphere while highlighting its emotional tone through the new opening song.
New Cast Addition
Alongside the video release, it was also announced that veteran voice actor Kazuhiko Inoue will join the cast as the Southern Hero, a character set to debut in the new season.
Broadcast and Music Details
The second season is scheduled to premiere on January 16, with Crunchyroll streaming the series worldwide outside of Asia (including India and the Indian subcontinent).
Singer-songwriter milet will perform the ending theme song titled “The Story of Us,” which was written specifically for the anime. milet previously performed the ending theme for the first season as well.

Staff Information
Tomoya Kitagawa, who directed several episodes in the first season, takes over as director for season two. Original series director Keiichirō Saitō remains involved in a director support role.
Daiki Harashina serves as assistant director, while Tomohiro Suzuki returns to handle series composition.
Character designs are now led by Takasemaru, Keisuke Kojima, and Yuri Fujinaka, replacing Reiko Nagasawa.
Seiko Yoshioka returns for concept art, and Evan Call once again composes the soundtrack. Animation production is handled by Madhouse, continuing from the first season.

About the Series
The first season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End premiered in September 2023 with a two-hour special and aired across two consecutive cours until March 2024. The series received widespread acclaim for its emotional storytelling and atmospheric direction.
The manga, created by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe, began serialization in April 2020 and has surpassed 30 million copies in circulation worldwide. While currently on an indefinite hiatus, the series remains one of the most celebrated fantasy manga of recent years.
