Aqua Puella -Shikinomori High School Swim Team- Manga Launches on Comic Walker

Manga creators Masahiro Totsuka and Yui Suga have launched a new manga titled Aqua Puella -Shikinomori Kōkō Suieibu- on Kadokawa’s Comic Walker website. Totsuka handles the story while Suga provides the artwork.

The series follows Konta, a former competitive swimming prospect whose life changed after a tragic incident at the beach. While he managed to save a drowning girl, she fell into a coma, leaving him burdened with guilt and pushing him to abandon swimming. Five years later, Konta lives as a shut-in, far removed from his past ambitions. Encouraged by his older sister, he takes on a role as a swim coach at Shikinomori High School, known for its strong swim team — only to encounter the same girl he once saved.

Totsuka is widely known for writing Bamboo Blade, illustrated by Aguri Igarashi, which later received a television anime adaptation. The manga was released in English by Yen Press, while the anime adaptation was distributed by Funimation.

He also worked on Wagahai no Kare wa Baka de Aru, which inspired the web anime Kare Baka: Wagahai no Kare wa Baka de R, and created Mannaka no Rikkun, another title that received a television anime adaptation.

With its mix of sports drama and emotional redemption, Aqua Puella -Shikinomori Kōkō Suieibu- marks a new collaborative project that centers on second chances — both in competition and in life.
