A Couple of Cuckoos Manga Enters Its Final Arc
The ninth issue of Weekly Shōnen Magazine this year has revealed that Miki Yoshikawa’s romantic comedy manga A Couple of Cuckoos (Kakkō no Iinazuke) has officially entered its final story arc.
The series follows Nagi Umino, a high-achieving high school student who discovers he was switched at birth. His life takes an unexpected turn when his family decides to resolve the mix-up through an arranged marriage. Complicating matters further, the girl involved is Erika Amano, a strong-willed teenager who initially asks Nagi to pretend to be her boyfriend in order to avoid marriage—only for the two to find themselves directly caught in the arrangement.

Yoshikawa began serializing A Couple of Cuckoos in January 2020, and the manga has steadily built a large readership. The 31st collected volume was released on January 16. In addition to the main manga, the series has also received a novel adaptation, which began publication in 2021.
The story was later adapted into a television anime, which premiered in April 2022 and ran continuously across two seasons. A second anime season followed in July 2025, continuing the story’s adaptation for television.
With the start of the final arc, the long-running romantic entanglements and unresolved relationships are now approaching their conclusion, leaving readers eager to see how Nagi and Erika’s story will ultimately end.
