70th Shogakukan Manga Awards: DAN DA DAN, Hirayasumi, and More Take Home Top Honors

The 70th Shogakukan Manga Awards have officially revealed their winners—and this year’s list is stacked 📚✨
The judging committee announced the results on Wednesday, honoring standout manga titles from across the industry. Each winning work will receive a bronze statuette along with a 1 million yen prize (approximately US$6,300).

Legendary manga creator Moto Hagio (The Poe Clan) received the Special Jury Prize, recognizing her lasting influence and monumental contributions to the manga world.

👀 Notable Nominees

This year’s competition was especially fierce. Other nominated works included:
Firefly Wedding, Fall in Love, You False Angels, Jumbo Max, Puniru is a Kawaii Slime, and several other widely discussed titles.

👥 Judging Committee

The panel featured a diverse group of creators and cultural figures, including Genki Kawamura, Ako Shimaki, Kazuhiko Shimamoto, Shiho Takase, and Taiyo Matsumoto, among others.

📖 About the Awards

Since 1956, the Shogakukan Manga Awards have celebrated excellence in manga. While the awards previously separated winners by demographic categories, Shogakukan abolished category divisions in 2023, allowing all works to compete on equal footing.
